Math Awareness Month: Does it Compute?

The American Statistical Association reminds me:

Did you know April is Mathematics Awareness Month? Join the American Statistical Association, the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics as they celebrate mathematics. The theme for 2009 is “Mathematics and Climate.”

Of course, I received this note on April 15, halfway through the month. So I guess I only need to be half-aware.

But Beth reminds me of the problem of timely notification:

"this means that mathematicians everywhere are saying, "did you know it's mathematics awareness month?" with amazing enthusiasm on April Fool's Day--how poetic."

DreamBox Learning is celebrating Math Awareness Month with the kids. We have created a fun calendar of math activities for the month of April with this years theme in mind. Here is the URL for the calendar "www.dreambox.com/math_awareness_month". Feel free to spread it around to any teachers, parents, or future mathematicians that want to celebrate too.
