Giving Thanks for Tolerance

The annual Austin interfaith Thanksgiving celebration scheduled to be held at the Quarries, a sports complex, scrambled to find a new venue, when Hyde Park Baptist Church, owner of the sports complex, discovered Moslems would be in attendance. The event will now be held at Congregation Beth Israel.

"... the church cannot provide space for the practice of these non-Christian religions on church property," the statement said. "Hyde Park Baptist Church hopes that the AAIM (local Muslim group) and the community of faith will understand and be tolerant of our church's beliefs that have resulted in this decision."
