Will Illinois lawmakers get evicted?

Gosh, I hope so.  Today's feel-good story from the Tribune is that the state is so far behind on paying its bills that several state legislators have received eviction notices for their district offices.

These same district offices are historically a source of corruption: the state overpays rent in a building just coincidentally owned by a major contributor or a cousin.

I look forward to the first legislator being actually evicted.  Illinois' fiscal problems are primarily due to poor governance -- since I got here in 1978 Jim Edgar is probably the only governor who's been fiscally responsible, and that list includes both parties. But for the last 8 years the Democrats have controlled the governorship, both houses, and currently all the elected statewide offices. Nobody else to blame.
