More about the pineapple sculpture: Taylor Hokanson

Yesterday I wrote:
"Please don't ask me about the metal construction with the TV monitor at the top and the pineapple in the middle."
But on the way home from work I saw the artist fixing this and got to talk to him about it. The idea of the piece is to enable you to look at an object from different angles - the object in this case being the pineapple.
Here's more about Taylor Hokanson, the artist: http://www.artloopopen.com/artists/taylor-hokanson
Taylor asked me what I thought the sculpture was about. I said I thought the piece was taking the electric energy from the pineapple and using that to power movement in the sculpture, like a potato clock -- the natural world powering the constructed world. The artist was amused.

  1. One of my favorite things about art is all of the perspectives put into motion by a single work.
