My co-workers bought a cake to celebrate my 20 years at IRI – a feat that some of those responsible for the cake, such as Alexa Horne and Debbie Samuels, have already achieved.
I try not to reflect on this too much. For one thing, I’m not really sure why I stayed here this long. My original intention was to work at IRI for a year or two.
I’m also not quite sure how I stayed here this long, since I’ve been through so many RIFs that I can’t count them, including a couple of waves this year. I’d like to think this was merit, but the list of really great people IRI has let go (and IRI’s habit of hiring people back later) makes it quite clear that one can just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
