SSRN is a place for social science working papers. I’ve got one (two as of yesterday) posted there. They periodically send me reports.
This one indicates that my author rank is 101,838th out of 202,782 authors. Several thoughts come to mind.
1. Maybe with this second paper I’ll break into the top 100,000.
2. There are over 200,000 authors of social science papers in this one English-language archive that started a few years ago? Who the heck needs that much social science? If we laid all these papers out end to end, how much real improvement in the human condition has resulted?
3. Humility is good for the soul.
