The Illinois Storytelling Festival is coming up September 25&26.
I haven't been for some years -- it used to be in big tents out in a park in Spring Grove, IL. I used to take my daughters, who liked listening to the stories and soaking up the sunshine. They even told a story or two at the open mike over the years.
Under a large oak(?) tree, they used to have a Liar's Contest. I was one of the winners twice. [But how do you know I'm telling the truth about that?] I'm wearing a shirt I won in the photo.
It's inside now, at Dominican University (where I teach part-time). I'm glad to see some familiar names scheduled at the festival, like Jim May, who used to run the festival when it was at Spring Grove.
