Over at Marginal Revolution, Tyler Cowen and his commenters are having great fun with the arcane rules the New York City school system has set up around bake sales -- not quite banning them, but not quite allowing them, either.
I favor banning bake sales entirely. They are humiliating for parents who, after all that hard work, suffer the humiliation of having their brownies compared unfavorably with Mrs. Smith's and Ms. Jones'.
Is there anything more traumatic than being around for the cleanup and having someone hold up your brownies and say "Anybody want these ones Kruger made?" (Well, yeah -- nobody wanting them.)
