Katy trail, day 1

The plan was to meet for breakfast at 7:30 and then leave at about 8.  This was very optimistic. We were slow getting organized and getting the mechanicals on the bikes in good shape, and then there was a small thunderstorm. So, we left about 10:30 a.m.

We went at a slow pace, Mark set up  the hammock to wait at one point, Kayla had a flat, we dallied over lunch with dessert at Dairy Queen, wilted a bit in the 90+ degree heat – and altogether didn’t finish our 35 miles until about 5:30.  Saw lots of turtles on the path, including one unlucky turtle with a split shell

We have another short day tomorrow, and hope to take in the Civil War re-enactment at Booneville.001002003004006007008011012013014
