A Statistician General?

I’m afraid this is an idea that will never happen. 

For one thing, the government take from the lottery (and other forms of gambling) is too big.

Sure, the lottery is called “a tax on the stupid”, but there’s a portion of me that says “OK, tax them instead of me”.

The kinder, gentler part of me sees the prevalence of legalized gambling as a pox on society. Sure, it creates jobs immediately around the casino (or in the lottery outlets), but it does so by siphoning off money that could otherwise be more productive in the economy.
