Permanent addresses

A recent college grad posts:

’I don't understand people's obsession with "permanent" addresses.’

Yes, this is kind of a holdover from the days where you needed a permanent address so you could be billed.  Some of the entities doing this – banks for one – can hardly be considered “people”.

It seems a bit archaic now that bills, financial statements, paychecks, etc. come electronically and aren’t mailed at all.

And the notion of a “permanent” address is only relative. There’s really only one “permanent” address, and there’s no need to be in a hurry for it:
