This comes from an older blog post by Andrew Gelman:
“Nicholas Christakis and James Fowler are famous for finding that obesity is contagious. Their claims, which have been received with both respect and skepticism (perhaps we need a new word for this: “respecticism”?)…” http://andrewgelman.com/2011/06/controversy_ove_2/
It seems like there should be another term for this type of thing, but all I can come up with are “notorious”, which has a bad connotation, and “controversial”, which works, but is perhaps broader than the meaning intended for “respecticism”.
